Demand outstripping supply for our Westpro BioactiveMAX™ Colostrum Powder
We have increased the number of our colostrum supply farms by about 30 percent on last year in response to the strong demand for Westpro BioactiveMAX™ Colostrum Powder.
Even though we have upped our production, it still won’t be enough to satisfy the extremely strong international demand for our colostrum powder which is like “powdered gold” on global markets.
We began collecting colostrum from our farmer suppliers on August 1 and continued collection through to late September. Our annual collection went well – collection, storage, and processing were smooth, with minimal waste or disruption. We thank our farmers for their exceedingly hard work this season.
The additional volumes will offer some relief for our existing customers as we have been unable to supply enough of our keenly sought after Westpro BioactiveMAX™ Colostrum Powder to meet their increasing demands. We will review the season to see if any changes or adjustments are required.
Despite the increase in supply, we are still seeking more product to satisfy the significant global demand for dietary supplements containing colostrum. Colostrum is a nutritionally rich food, naturally high in proteins, immunoglobulins, vitamins and minerals.
Rigorous quality testing key part of production
We continue to encourage farmers to supply but recognise that the process of supplying colostrum is not straightforward, with every colostrum consignment subject to rigorous quality testing.
Testing for inhibitory substances is carried out in two stages, starting with a preliminary Delvo screening test, a widely used, rapid screening method that checks for the presence of antibiotics or other inhibitory substances. It acts as the first safeguard, quickly flagging any samples that may not meet strict standards.
Any samples that trigger a potential concern are then subjected to a comprehensive LCMS (Liquid Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry) test. This highly sensitive and precise technology identifies and quantifies even trace amounts of unwanted substances, giving confidence that only clean, compliant colostrum, free from residues that could interfere with processing or product safety, moves forward.
Our advanced spray-drying process preserves the heat-sensitive bioactive components in our colostrum, minimising denaturation and maximising bioactivity. To ensure the product meets quality requirements, including stringent health and safety standards, Micro Biological Quality testing is also undertaken on every sample received. These tests check for the presence of bacteria or microorganisms that could compromise product quality, shelf life, or safety. By verifying that each batch is microbiologically sound, we ensure our customers receive a product that is both safe and of the highest standard.
