We collect colostrum from only the first two milkings after calving, when bioactive components are at their natural peak. After the first 24 hours, these beneficial compounds decline rapidly – making this early window essential for quality.
In New Zealand, the vast majority of cows calve in early spring, when pasture growth naturally aligns with the animals’ increased energy needs after parturition. Our pasture-based farming system allows cows to live in a more natural environment, where they can graze outdoors, move freely within the herd, and consume a grass-fed diet.
Because of this seasonal calving pattern, colostrum is available for collection only during a short 6-7-week period each year. Since we are committed to processing from fresh, not frozen, colostrum, to maintain superior bioactivity, we are operating within a limited and highly controlled timeframe. We process colostrum within 48 hours, exceeding major international standards and helping to preserve its delicate bioactive compounds.
